“Mantra of a Bridge Builder” by Lucinda Clark in 5 Languages

I am a bridge builder. 

I build based upon where  

I travel 

I build on happy days and sad days: 

I have built during times I felt I could not— 

and possibly should not—go on. 

My bridge building is based on 

following a road; 

a dominant thought 

changes in my worldview. 

Added to each bridges structure are 

things I have seen, 

things I have heard, 

things I have read. 

Ideas I have opened and closed 

my eyes, heart and mind to. 

The length and strength of some of these bridges are 

undetermined and, 

much too far away  

for my mind’s eye to reach  

only the passage of time 

will determine. 

Each bridges purpose is to open new 

gateways, 

passageways 

and give opportunity,  

to those who are and are not like me. 

To enrich all just by having come this way. 

Lucinda J. Clark is the founder of the Poetry Matters Project. She has worked with visual artists and authors on the protection, promotion and marketing of their creative works for over 25 years. She is a contributing poet of the View from The Middle of The Road Series of which there are now five editions.  She has also worked with poets ranging from middle schoolers to seniors on a series of anthologies, from these efforts she has published four anthologies with another set for end of this year.

Clark is a member of the Atlanta Writers Club, Augusta Authors Club, and Past President of the Georgia Poetry Society.

Through her work in publishing , P.R.A. Publishing, she is a member of  Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), Poet’s House and the Woman’s National Book Association (WNBA-D.C. Chapter). 

Le mantra d’un bâtisseur de ponts

Je suis un bâtisseur de ponts. 

Je construis d’après où 

Je voyage 

Je construis pendant des jours de joie 

Je construis pendant des jours de tristesse 

J’ai déjà construit pendant des moments  

quand je sentais que je ne pouvais pas – 

et certainement ne devrais pas – 

continuer. 

Ma construction de ponts  

suit un chemin; 

une pensée dominante 

change ma vision du monde. 

Ajouter à chaque structure de pont sont 

des choses que j’ai vues, 

des choses que j’ai entendues, 

des choses que j’ai lues. 

Des idées que j’ai ouvertes et fermées 

Mes yeux, mon cœur, et mon esprit. 

La distance et la puissance de quelques-uns de ces ponts sont inconnues et, 

beaucoup trop loin  

pour mon imagination d’atteindre 

que seulement le passage du temps 

déterminera 

Le but de chaque pont est d’ouvrir 

de nouvelles portes d’entrées, 

des passerelles 

et d’offrir des chances égales 

à ceux qui sont et a ceux qui ne sont pas 

comme moi. 

Pour enrichir tous parce qu’ils sont passés par ce chemin.

Я строитель мостов.

Я строю их там,

Где иду.

Я строю в дни радости и печали:

Я строил в то время, когда и не мог,

А может, когда и не стоило бы.

Я строю мосты потому,

Что следую дороге;

Кардинально меняются мысли

В мире моем.

Добавлены к каждой структуре моста

Те вещи, которые видел,

Те вещи, которые слышал,

Те вещи, что я читал.

Идеи, которым я открывал и закрывал

Глаза мои, сердце и мозг.

Длина и прочность таких мостов

Неопределенны

И слишком далеки,

Чтоб осознать;

Лишь течение времени

Определит их.

Цель каждого моста открыть

Новые входы,

Проходы,

И дать возможность

Таким, как я, и не таким, как я,

Вырасти, проходя этот путь.

Может быть,

хотя бы, может быть

Когда мои дни постройки мостов останутся позади,

То, что было построено

Yo soy un constructor de puentes

Construyo basado donde viajo

Construyo en días felices y en días tristes

He construido en tiempos que sentía que no podría – 

Y posiblemente no debería- seguir

Mi puente está basado en el siguiente camino:

Un pensamiento dominante cambia  mi vista del mundo.

Agregado a cada estructura del puente están

Cosas que he visto

Cosas que he oído

Cosas que he leído

Ideas a las que les he abierto y cerrado mis ojos, corazón y mente.

La longitud y fortaleza de algunos de estos puentes son

Indeterminados y

Demasiado lejos

De mis ojos para alcanzar

Solo el paso del tiempo

Determinara

El propósito de cada puente es abrir nuevos

Escapes

Pasajes,

Y dar oportunidad

A aquellos que son y no son como yo.

Enriquecer todo al llegar a este camino.

Quizás,

Solo quizás

Cuando los días de  construcción de mi puente se hayan terminado,

Lo que ha sido construido

Ich bin ein Brückenbauer  

I baue dort, 

wohin meine Reise mich führt  

Ich baue an sonnigen und an trüben Tagen  

Ich habe in Zeiten gebaut, in denen ich dachte, 

ich könnte nicht– und möglicherweise nicht hätte sollen – bauen.  

Mein Brückenbauen orientiert sich an folgendem Weg;  

Ein dominanter Gedanke  

Verändert meine Weltsicht.  

Zu jeder Brückenstruktur gehören 

Dinge, die ich gesehen habe  

Dinge, die ich gehört habe  

Dinge, die ich gelesen habe.  

Ideen, die ich meinen Augen, meinem Herz und meinen Gedanken verwehrt habe.  

Die Länge und Tragkraft einige dieser Brücken 

sind Nicht erfasst und  

Viel zu weit entfernt, 

um von meinen Gedanken erfasst werden zu können  

Allein die Zeit wird es zeigen.  

Der Sinn jeder Brücke liegt darin, neue Tore zu öffnen  

Wege  

und Möglichkeiten  

für die, die nicht so sind wie ich.  

Um alle zu bereichern, die an diesem Weg entlang gekommen sind.  

Vielleicht,  

und nur vielleicht,  

wenn die Tage meines Brückenbauens zu Ende gehen  wird das, was ich gebaut habe  

(auch wenn ich in Staub verfalle)  

weiterleben.
